About Crystal Wu

Crystal Wu was born in Shanghai, China, and moved to Melbourne in 2018. She worked for fashion production for more than 20 years, and is in charge of her own business in China. Since moving to Melbourne, Crystal has devoted a lot of time to painting and learning. In 2023, her two works, both named 'Untitled', were selected for exhibition at TWHA WHIF in Los Angeles, USA. Then, in 2024, her work 'EXIT' was again selected for a showcase at ANKHART in Paris. 

Crystal is a keen travellor, and many of her works are inspired and based on the places that she has been to. Due to work and residence she travels around Asia and other parts of the world all year round, which provided her with a lot of inspiration for her creations. She also draws on ideas relating on different cultures from her family, with her sisters' family living in Tokyo and Singapore, and her own family in Melbourne. Crystal often explores artistic concepts with her daughter Ruby, and she attempts to convey those intimate relationships and a sense of multiculture by painting.

Crystal is also happy to collaborate with other artists to create more resonance with her rich colours and rhythmic brushstrokes.
